Mary "Joann" Sager, 85, passed away on Sunday, February 12th, 2023 at Franciscan Health Michigan City.

 

Joann was born on October 19th, 1937 in Decatur, IL, to Robert and Helen (Noonan) Comerford.

 

On September 1st, 1956, she married Richard, who survives.  Also surviving are her children, Kent (Michelle) Sager and Connie Norton, all of La Porte; 2 grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda) Sager of Muncie and LeeAnn (Jordan) Sager-Smith of Hyde Park, IL; brother, Timothy (Linda) Comerford of Indianapolis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Christopher Kevin Sager; son-in-law, Thomas Norton; and brother, John Comerford.

 

Joann graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor of science in education.  Until her retirement, she taught as an English and history high school teacher.  During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A private family service has taken place.
