Billy Buchanan, 43, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 5:07 p.m., Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 at Northwest Health in La Porte.

 

He was born June 13th, 1979, in La Porte to Billy and Deborah (Borkowski) Buchanan, Sr.

 

Billy had many interests including playing poker, singing, listening to music, playing trivia games, reading and performing magic. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan and enjoyed traveling to Disney with his family. Billy had a great personality and got along with everyone. Billy never gave up on life when things got difficult, even in the end he saved 3 lives by being an organ donor. Billy was a loving father and husband who will be greatly missed. 

 

On June 29th, 2002, in La Porte, Billy married his high school sweetheart, Jamie Curry, who survives.

 

Also surviving are his parents, Deborah (James) Levandoski and Billy (Jean) Buchanan, Sr.; one daughter, Emma Buchanan; grandparents, Rich “Paka” and Sharlene Borkowski; cousin, who was like a sister, Deborah (Justin) Cummins; three sisters, Holly Buchanan, Lynsey (Chance) Daley, and Tasha Buchanan; mother and father-in-law, John and Kathy Curry; brother-in-law, John (Kelly) Curry; several nieces and nephews; two life-long friends, Ryan Humphrey and Lucas King; and many other close family and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aaron and Essie Buchanan; and aunt, Vera Martin.

 

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2 – 5 p.m., Sunday, February 19th, 2023 at La Porte Civic Auditorium, 1001 Ridge Street, La Porte. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 West Johnson Road, La Porte, (219) 362-3100, is caring for the arrangements. Cremation will take place.
