Mary Helen Peters, 91, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, February 11th, 2023 at 2:00 am in Trail Creek Place, Michigan City, IN.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, February 17th, 2023 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 818 Franklin Saint, Michigan City, IN with  Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 10:00 am, Friday at the church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.    

 

She was born January 6th, 1932 in Michigan City, IN to the late Wayne and Julia (Niegos) Smith. On June 10th, 1950 in Michigan City, IN she married Edmund "Lyle" Peters who preceded her on January 6th, 2023.

 

Surviving are two sons, Bruce (Cathy) Peters of Moline, IL, Steven (Valerie) Peters of Dublin, GA; daughter, Laurie (Michael) Gavin of Buffalo Grove, IL; five grandchildren, Wesley (Courtney) Peters, Tyler (Nathalie) Peters, Samantha (Michael) Klein, Kathleen Gavin and Kyle Peters; and two great-grandchildren, Sloan and Selah Peters.

 

Mary had worked as a server at Pottawattomie Country Club. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Michigan City, IN and enjoyed traveling, reading, dancing and playing cards.
