Patrick “Mo” A. Mahaffey, 71, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, February 5th, 2023 at 4:35 pm in his home with loving family at his side.

 

He was born December 24th, 1951 in Michigan City, IN to the late Ralph and Margaret (Esper) Mahaffey. On May 31, 1986  he married Joanne McFarland who survives. 

 

He has two loving daughters, Mallory Mahaffey of Chesterton, IN and Kelly Mahaffey of Michigan City, IN. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jan Mahaffey, a brother-in-law Rob (Judie) McFarland in addition to many caring cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Mahaffey and Dennis Mahaffey.

 

In 2018, Pat retired as  co-owner of  L & R Body Co. Inc. in Michigan City.  He was a lifetime member of Moose Family Center 980 and a U.S. Army Veteran. Pat participated in softball and bowling leagues for 40 years.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was a long time season ticket holder.  Pat co-created and ran a fantasy baseball league for 32 years, which brought him and others both joy and a sought after traveling trophy!  

 

Pat touched many lives through his unprecedented quick wit.  His friendships were many and those who knew him counted on his wisdom and caring ways.  He loved his family most of all and was certainly a man of character.  He will be deeply missed, and left many  meaningful memories behind.  

 

Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements. There will be no services, per Pat’s request.
