Charlene Jeanette Kesling, 91, of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family.

 

Charlene was born on November 2nd, 1931 in La Porte, IN, to Harold and Virginia (Ordun) Kneisley. 

 

On September 4th, 1954 in La Porte, IN, she married Dr. Peter C. Kesling, who preceded her in death on July 25th, 2022.  Surviving Charlene are her sons, Dr. Christopher K. (Tami) Kesling of La Porte and Andrew C. Kesling of Union Pier, MI; grandchildren, Abigail L. Kesling of Mishawaka, Hannah E. (Jim) Kesling Post of La Porte, Halley A. (Erik) Kesling Umbrasas of New Buffalo, MI, Katelyn R. (Troy) Kesling Smith of Bridgman MI, Austen C. (Raegan) Kesling of Valparaiso, Chloe J. Kesling of La Porte, and William K. (Julia) Kesling of Los Angeles CA; great-grandchildren, Adella Keener, Breccan Keener, Langley Smith, Willow Post, Story Smith, and Monroe Kesling; sisters, Karen Kneisley Danser of La Porte and Diane Kneisley Keenan of Dallas, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Adam Winslow Kesling; daughter, Emily Ann Kesling; granddaughter, Lindsey O'Brien Kesling; grandson, Calvin Kesling; sister, Sally Allgood; and half-brother, Dennis Henderlong.

 

Charlene's first love was her family.  She was involved in numerous activities and groups.  Charlene was a member of the Questers, La Porte Service League, and the La Porte County Historical Society.

 

A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
