Mary "Dee" Hunt

Mary Dolores Hunt (Dolores Haller), 87, of Union Mills, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday evening, January 27th, 2023. Known fondly to many as “Dee”, she was born on February 21st, 1935, in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

On June 6th, 1953, Dolores Haller married Richard Neil Hunt in her hometown of Roseville, Michigan. Together the couple are survived by their four children: Sandra Christine Gorny (Edward) of Juno Beach, FL; Richard Clyde Hunt of Colorado Springs, CO; Vicky Dee Dereka (Tony) of Valparaiso, IN; and Cynthia Lucille Rix (Scott) of Chattanooga, TN. Dee’s passion for serving the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life, personally and professionally. Dee enjoyed a successful career as Senior Vice President at Senior Lifestyle (Michigan Avenue, Chicago), while also serving the Lord in a variety of roles in her church, community and amongst her Senior Lifestyle residents. Also known as “Aunt Dee,” she was often found in her kitchen preparing a Sunday roast dinner to be shared with family and friends, always trademarked with her famous homemade cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies.

Her legacy lives on not only through her children but also her beloved grandchildren (Chris Gorny, Jeff Gorny; Jamie DiGiacomo, Katie Hein, Jonathan Hunt; Craig Dereka, Natalie Dereka, Jimmy Dereka; Lauren Rix, Kyle Rix, Josie Rix), fifteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

As a reflection of Dee’s love for life and those around her, John 10:10 reads, “…I have come that they may have life, and have it to the fullest.”
