Leroy L. Kloss, Jr.

Leroy L. Kloss, Jr., 62, of New Carlisle, passed away at 12:18 a.m., Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at his home after a valiant battle with an alien called cancer.

He was born May 11th, 1960, in Michigan City, to Leroy Kloss Sr. and Rosemary (Kniola) Kloss.

Leroy had many interests; he loved his dogs and breeding his birds. Leroy collected stuffed and ceramic Tasmanian Devil and Grinch items. He was very involved in the LGBTQ community and was a roadie for “Welcome To The Other Side” adult entertainment group. Leroy was a master baker, loved hosting his annual birthday party, and his Sangria was gold-standard. He proudly served his country for 8 years as a E-5 Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and was also a conductor for South Shore Freight. Leroy had a loving, generous heart that he kept hidden behind an ornery, sarcastic exterior.  His sense of humor was always on tap but definitely not for the faint of heart or thin-skinned.

Surviving are his father, one sister, Theresa (John) Singleton of Dana, IN; and four brothers, Larry Kloss of Iowa, Daniel “Buno” (Sandy) Kloss of Michigan, Andrew (Karen) Kloss of Elkhart, and Mark (Mary) Kloss of Rolling Prairie; as well as a large number of extended family and devoted friends, many of whom called him simply “Uncle”.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and one brother, Mike Kloss.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, January 27th, 2023 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 West Johnson Road, La Porte, (219) 362-3100. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Cremation will take place.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the local Humane Society or VA.
