Ronnie Lee McKinney, 69, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, at his home in La Porte, surrounded by his family.

 

He was born August 16, 1953, in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Billy E McKinney Sr and Emma L. (Floyd) McKinney.

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Ronnie was a member of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a Grinder Machinist for Aero Metals, retiring on August 31st, 2022. On May 10th, 2013, Ronnie married Susanne Anna McKinney, who preceded him in death on June 3rd, 2021. He was a Christian and a member of the Agape Christian Church in La Porte. Ronnie loved watching sports and was a fan of the Tampa Bay Bucs, the Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago BlackHawks. He played baseball and softball, was in a billiards league, and really enjoyed Rock and Roll, particularly heavy metal music.

 

Ronnie is survived by his sons, Michael McKinney of Arizona, and Travis McKinney of La Porte; daughter, Jennifer McKinney of Florida; brother James McKinney of La Porte; sister, Shirley (Ron) Kraus of La Porte.

 

Along with his wife, Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Billy McKinney, Jr, and his sister Patricia Wolfenbarger.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Avenue, La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Friday, December 30th, 2022 from 10:00 until service time at noon, with Pastor Mike Grandy, Lighthouse Church, La Porte, officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
