Evelyn Mary Lambert

Evelyn Mary Lambert, 95, of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022, at Miller Health and Rehab.

Evelyn was born on February 21st, 1927, in Buchanan, MI, to Joseph and Anna (Velacek) Mottl.

On August 20th, 1946, in La Porte, she married James Dale Lambert, who preceded her in death.  Evelyn is survived by her children, Sandra Tarr of La Porte and Richard C. (Patty) Lambert of La Porte; son-in-law, Frank Hostetler; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 1 cousin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Vicky Hostetler; son-in-law, Dean Tarr; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.

As a teenager, Evelyn worked for $17 a week at her family's restaurant, Victory Lunch, located on Indiana Ave.  Later she worked as a supervisor at Indiana Molding, American Rubber, then Burnell Foam.  Upon her retirement, she accepted a position in the Kroger deli, where she enjoyed making desserts.  That enjoyment of dessert making was evident as she created a ministry through her own pumpkin bread.

Evelyn enjoyed her volunteer work with the mastectomy patients at La Porte Hospital.  She also enjoyed gardening and music, particularly country and gospel.  Evelyn loved gatherings that included music, food, humor, and the Polka!

Known as "GG", Evelyn dearly loved her family.  She will be remembered for not only her love of them, but also for her love of reading her Bible until her eyesight no longer allowed.

Evelyn will be laid to rest at Pine Lake Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion Tabernacle Church, 101 W. 18th Street, La Porte, IN 46350, or the NewDay Foundation of La Porte, Inc., P.O. Box 13, La Porte, IN 46352-0013.
