Mark C. Werner, 70, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Marion Health, Marion, IN.

 

He was born December 1, 1952, in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Arnold H. Werner and Marie Ida (Bent) Werner.

 

Mark graduated from La Porte high school in 1970 and immediately enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Germany, where he had the privilege of driving the General around. When he returned to the states, he lived in Michigan City for a short time before moving into the Veteran's Home in Marion. Mark was a former member of Tracy Immanuel Lutheran Church. He loved cruising Lincolnway in his Chevelle and enjoyed eating with his brothers, especially mac and cheese and burgers. His brothers would also take him new watches when they went for a visit, which he was very thankful for. Mark found joy in Jesus and talked about him frequently.
 

He is survived by his two sisters, Marmery (Fred deceased)) Haack of Otis, IN, Marilynn (Jim deceased) Ames of Michigan City, IN; three brothers, Macolm (Kay) Werner of Union Mills, IN, Meredith (Carol) Werner of Hinsdale, IL, Marshall L. Werner of Silver Lake, IN and several nieces and nephews.

 

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Martin, Marvin, and Melvin Werner.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A funeral service will take place on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Tracy Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Albertin, officiating. Interment will follow at the Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, Indiana.
