Michael “87” Smith, 68, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away at his home on Monday, November 21, 2022.

 

He was born March 7, 1954 in La Porte, IN to the late Norma (Boone) Hunsley.

 

Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer (Eric) Adams of Indianapolis, IN; son, Jason (Jennifer) Smith of Glen Allen, VA; two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Connor Smith;  along with four brothers: Jim Afield of La Porte, IN, Howard (Donna) Hunsley of La Porte, IN, Theron (Laurie) Hunsley of Chesterton, IN and Charles (Kelly) Hunsley of La Porte, IN.

 

Mike worked as a manager in local food service throughout his career. 87 was a former season ticket holder and die-hard Chicago Bears fan who also enjoyed listening to smooth jazz and anything related to the movie Shaft.

 

Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Heart Association.

 

The family will conduct a private celebration of life. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
