Betty Lucille Rademacher

Betty Lucille Rademacher, 97, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Betty was born on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925 in Riley, IN, to Virgil and Matilda Ann (Kiefner) McCrocklin.

 

On August 24, 1958 in Terre Haute, IN, she married Robert Carl Rademacher who preceded her in death.  Surviving Betty are her children, Susan (David) Chlebek of La Porte, Kevin (Andrea) Rademacher, and Tim (Kathy) Radmacher of Richmond, KY; 6 grandchildren, Sarah (Kevin) Chlebek Mitrick of Ogden Dunes, Sam Chlebek of La Porte, Sophia Chlebek of La Porte, Karl Rademacher, AJ Rademacher, and Ben Rademacher; 1 great-granddaughter, Lucille Mitrick; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 brothers, Harry, Leonard and Donald McCrocklin; and 2 sisters, Elsie McCrocklin and Zelda Moseman.

 

Betty was a teacher at Columbus High, New Carlisle High, and Stillwell Elementary Schools, as well as a Sunday School teacher at St. John's Lutheran Church.  She was a member of La Porte County Extension Homemakers and was a 4-H leader.  Betty enjoyed attending the fair every year and helping her grandchildren with their 4-H projects.  She was very creative, enjoying repurposing things and thrifiting.  Betty enjoyed animals, sewing, crafting, reading and writing.  She looked forward to visiting with her sister at the farm she was born on.

 

In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling and square dancing with Rural Youth.  Betty had the wonderful ability to talk with anyone and everyone she was fortunate to meet.  She will be most remembered for her patience, caring heart, friendly nature, and dedication to her family.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Schaeffer and Pastor Brauer officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. 

 

Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 111 Kingsbury Ave., La Porte, IN 46350.
