Daniel "Dan" Edward Stimley

Daniel "Dan" Edward Stimley, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Northwest Health - La Porte with several loved ones nearby.

 

Dan was born on December 23, 1949 in La Porte, IN, to the late Leonard William and Maxine Evelyn (Mayer) Stimley.

 

Surviving Dan are his brothers, Leonard David (Mary Ann) of Lilburn, GA, Mark Andrew (Lisa) of Carmel, IN, Robert Joel (Nadine) Stimley of La Porte; sister, Jari Lynn (David) Troth of La Porte; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

He will also be remembered and missed by his YANA family and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 aunts, Betty Gene Sies, Barbara Bayer, and Phyliss Bayer; and uncle, Robert Bayer.

 

Dan proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

 

Dan was very wise and knowledgeable in  many different areas.  He had a strong admiration for art and was extremely artistic himself.  Dan was very creative and loved applying his talents.

 

Dan had two green thumbs that showed in his love for gardening.  He also enjoyed landscaping.

 

Dan will be most remembered for his outstanding sense of humor, his compassion, and his generosity for helping others.

 

Dan was very outgoing, friendly and had a kind smile.  He had a special way of making people feel accepted and comfortable in almost any situation.

 

Everyone who knew Dan would agree that he served his life purpose through his strong passion and commitment for helping others.

 

Dan was on the Board of La Porte County Drug Free Partnership for many years, greatly serving the community.

 

Dan was a faithful member of The YANA (You Are Never Alone) Service Club in La Porte, IN for over 30 years.  He gave a majority of his time and energy towards the creation and development of The YANA Service Club.  The community will continue to benefit from his unwavering dedication, efforts, and contributions for generation to come.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. 

 

Friends and family visitation will be from 10 a.m. - noon on Saturday, November 26, 2022, followed by a Celebration  of Life at The YANA Service Club, 1621 Roberts St., La Porte, IN 46350.

 

Memorial contributions may be directed to the YANA Service Club.
