Donna Mae Selke

Donna Mae Selke, 79, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully at 12:50 p.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Franciscan Health Michigan City.

 

She was born on April 23, 1943 in Michigan City, Indiana, to Elmer and Betty (Benford) Dean.

 

Donna owned Bonanza Bar in Michigan City, where everyone was like family. She loved traveling to NASCAR races with her kids and was the biggest fan of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr. She loved going to the South Bend Motor Speedway and watching her son race. Donna also loved vacationing in Las Vegas playing at the Blackjack table. 

 

She influenced the lives of everyone around her and was a mentor to many. The love and guidance she gave was above and beyond. She enjoyed spending time more than anything with her grandkids, family, and friends. 

 

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa (Brett) Loetz; one son, Ray (Jennifer) Selke; one sister, Judy (Darryl) Smith; six grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, Karleigh, Devin, Marissa, and Levi; and two great grandchildren, Jackson and Camilia.

 

Along with her significant other, Ron Brinkman, who shared almost 30 years together; and her beloved dog, Winnie.

 

Preceding in death were her parents; three sisters, Phyllis Younker, Marian Valentine, and Nancy Gloy; and two brothers, Jimmy and Eugene Dean.

 

A visitation and viewing will be held from 2 – 5 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100. Friends and family are invited to gather for a celebration of life at the F.O.P. Lodge #75, 416 US Hwy 20, Michigan City following the visitation at 5 p.m.
