Sharon Ann Bachmann Scott Bougher

Sharon Ann Bachmann Scott Bougher, born on May 6, 1943, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on October 22, 2022.

 

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Harrison ‘Bud’ Bachmann; mother, Alfrieda Ogborn Bachmann; sister, Judith Bachmann Sheeler; and husband Wilbur E. Bougher.

 

Sharon is survived in death by her children, Jill Scott Sacco, Robyn Scott Eaton, Jennifer Scott Gearheart (Todd), and Andrew Scott (Zora Heilman); grandchildren, Truman & Griffin Sacco, Emily & Emmet Eaton, Gabrielle & Drew Gearheart, and Elizabeth & Carter Scott; stepchildren, Debbie Bougher Griffith (Tim), Frank Bougher, Ronald Bougher, and Dawn Bougher Wegiel (Steve); step grandchildren Abbey Griffith Cook, Patrick Griffith, Damon Bougher, Tashenna & RJ Bougher, and Jonathan & Kyle Wegiel.

 

She was born in Cambridge City, Indiana, oldest of four siblings, James Bachmann of Greenwood, Indiana, the late Judith Sheeler of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Betsy Bachmann of Champaign, Illinois.  Sharon graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Library Science.  After graduation, she relocated to La Porte, Indiana with her first husband Craig Emmet Scott of LaPorte.

 

Sharon enjoyed her children’s earlier years as a stay-at-home mom.  She later worked out of the home as a librarian and substitute teacher within the La Porte County and South Central School Systems. Sharon was an active member of Psi Iota Xi Service Sorority and participated in the Service League and local Traffic Commission.  She routinely worked local election polls and assisted with 4-H activities, as well.  Sharon was a founding member of the La Porte County Pioneer Land, where she remained active and volunteered, hosting classroom tours and contributing to the annual Ham & Bean Supper Fundraiser.  She and her husband were active participants in the La Porte County Heart of Arts events. 

 

Throughout her life Sharon was an avid reader.  She loved her horses, particularly Dandy, and her loyal Golden Retriever, Ben.  Sharon enjoyed scouting antique shops, auctions & garage sales, playing cards with family and friends, raising her children, watching her grandchildren grow, traveling with family & friends, and gathering with family during the July 4th holiday and at Christmas. Sharon was loyal, loving, kind and enjoyed making connections within her community.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A private family service will take place at a later date.
