Emma L. Swedersky

Emma L. Swedersky, 69, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the home of her son in Walkerton.

She was born December 15, 1952 in Canoe, Kentucky, the daughter of Lewis Turner and Elizabeth (Stamper) Turner. Emma and her family moved to La Porte when she was 5 years old. She graduated from La Porte High and married her late husband, Norman Swedersky in La Porte on September 9, 1972.

Emma went to work for Aero Metals, retiring after 33 years in 2015. She was a factory worker and a homemaker, kind of a "neighborhood mom". Along with her husband, Emma enjoyed bird watching, camping, going to the casinos and vacationing, her favorite being her cruise to Jamaica. She was an avid Cubs fan and league bowler at Thunderbird Lanes, loved holiday crafting and setting up her Christmas village and decorations each year. Emma and her "Breakfast Club" co-workers met weekly for lunch, which she really enjoyed.

Emma is survived by two sons, Anthony "Tony" (Jamie Schlundt) Swedersky of Walkerton, Charlie (Jennifer) Swedersky of La Porte; brother, Jim Turner of Kingsford Heights; 3 grandchildren, Seth (Stephanie) Metcalf of La Porte, Chase (Terena) Swedersky of Terre Haute,IN, Tyler (Angel Thomas) Swedersky of La Porte, granddogs, Libby and Rizzo and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman; brothers, Harold and Ray Turner and sisters Lilly Swedersky and Beatrice Bowmar.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Friday October 21, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and on Saturday October 22, 2022 from 10:00-11:00a.m.

A Celebration of Emma's Life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Barry Brown, Praise Tabernacle Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Heights Cemetery.
