Marguerite Elizabeth Schroeder, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Miller's Health and Rehab in La Porte, IN.

She was born March 1, 1938 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph William Harris and Edith (Reese) Harris. On August 2, 1969, in Rolling Prairie, IN, Marguerite married Ervin L. Schroeder, who preceded her in death on October 15, 2017.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Lorea Harris; sister, Patrica Jensen; brothers, Richard, Joseph, James, Douglas and Wayne Harris.

She is survived by her brother, Michael (Debbie) Harris of Rolling Prairie, IN; three step- daughters, Terri Jalbert of Glendale, AZ, Pamela Hanson of Plano, TX, Tammi Huskey of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Milton (Delores) Schroeder; 7 grandchildren and many great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident of the area, Marguerite worked at Bozak Auto for 35 years. After retirement, she also was involved in the New Prairie schools as a cafeteria worker. Over the course of her life, Marguerite enjoyed playing Bingo, bird watching, and was always excited about watching her favorite "Cubbies" on TV. She also loved assisting her late husband with the gardening and canning of their fresh vegetables.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Marguerite's Life service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
