Byron Sawyer, 80, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday October 8, 2022 at Northwest Health-La Porte.

 

He was born May 7, 1942 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Marvin Sawyer and Cora (Day) Sawyer.

 

A lifelong resident of La Porte, Byron served in the US Army. He went on to work for Whirlpool Corporation, where he retired. Byron was a member of the PNA, PRCU, and the La Porte Eagles. He enjoyed putting model cars together and displaying them in his home and loved going for rides to nowhere on Sunday's. Byron adored his "babies", his dog Bam Bam and cat Elizabeth.

 

He is survived by his husband Jeff; brother, Don (Sandy) Sawyer of La Porte, IN; two sisters, Patricia Erne of Carmel, IN, and Jean (Dick) Bartmess of LaPorte, IN.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, October 12 from 4-7 PM. Life Reflections will be held at 7 PM, at the funeral home. Interment of cremated remains will follow at a later date.
