Dennis Fred Schoch, 79, beloved husband, father and papa, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully at 8:57 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Franciscan Health Michigan City.

 

He was born May 3, 1943, in Michigan City, IN, to L.G. Ray and Georgia Ellen (Dodson) Schoch.

 

Dennis proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Ashland. In 2002, he retired after 35 years of service at Bethlehem Steel as an Instrument Engineer. Dennis was an avid golfer and enjoyed working for Michigan City Golf Course for 21 years on the greens staff. He was a member of Moose Family Center 980 Lodge of Michigan City. Dennis enjoyed gardening and fishing in his spare time and considered himself a cheeseburger connoisseur. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

 

On March 27, 1965, in Easton, PA, he married Gail Sampson, who survives. Together they shared 57 years of marriage.

 

Also surviving are his three children, Sean (Kara) Schoch of Fishers, IN, Shannon Eldridge of La Porte, IN, and Bryan (Patricia) Tremper of Lancaster, PA; one brother, Larry Glenn (Darlene) Schoch of Michigan City, IN; one sister, Sandra Croft of Michigan City, IN; sister-in-law, Valerie Boyer (Marvin) of Easton, PA; five grandchildren, Reagyn Ryder and Ramsey Eldridge, Sophie and Ellie Schoch, and Christopher Tremper; several nieces and nephews; and two best friends, Jim Fisher and Jim Kriesel.

 

Preceding in death were his parents; one son, Troy Matthew Schoch; and two sisters, Judy Weisjohn and Sheryl Schoch.

 

Cremation will take place. There will be no visitation or services held. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
