Charles (Pappy) E. Daniel Sr.

Charles (Pappy) E. Daniel Sr., 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday September 30, 2022 at his home in La Porte, IN with his family by his side.

He was born July 8, 1935 in Caruthersville, Missouri, the son of Clyde E. Daniel and Jessie A. (McKinght) Daniel.

Charles retired from Howmet in La Porte after 33 years as a manufacturing engineer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 400 Fish Lake and the Stillwell Rod and Gun Club.  Charles enjoyed many things in his life. He loved to garden, was an avid reader, pretty good pool player, playing on many pool leagues throughout his life. He loved watching World Wrestling Federation and old westerns on TV. I'm told he was quite the handyman as well. He spent a lot of time learning about the history of our country and spend his vacations visiting Civil War battle fields. Charles spent years as a Boy Scout Master throughout his kid's childhoods. Many times, he would take his family on trips to visit the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, usually camping by a flowing river. But Charles biggest passion in life was his wife, his family, grand kids, great-grandkids, and a great-great-grandchild.

On August 22, 1953, in La Porte, he married Mary B. Daniel who survives.

He is also survived by his six sons, Charles (Helen Gee) Daniel Jr. of La Porte, IN, Mark (Vickie) Daniel of Hebron, IN, William (Shelley) Daniel of La Porte, IN, Gerald (Shelly) Daniel of La Porte, IN, Clyde (Millie) Daniel of La Porte, IN, and Paul (Ramona) Daniel of Fish Lake, IN; a daughter, Julie (Greg) Spence of Walkerton, IN; two sisters, Judy (Butch) McPherson of La Porte, IN, and Patricia (Gary) Collings of La Porte, IN; fifteen grandchildren, Angie (Bill), Charles, III, McKenzie (Tom), Adam (Lindsey), Ryan (Jerome), Sarah, Danielle (Nate), Andrew (Erica), Mary, Paul, III, Robert, Megan, Nick, William, Jessie; twenty-three great-grandchildren, Jill, Savannah, Peyton, Johnathan, Raegan, Dillion, Jackson, Lane, Paige, Calvin, Allyana, Abigail, Lee, Bentley, William, Dennis, Annabelle, Clayton, Cameron, Michael, Korie Mae, Serenity, Wyatt; great-great-grandchild, Emerson;

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thomas, Gerald, Robert Daniel, and grandchild, Jeremey.
