James Allen Koopman, 50, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Munster Community Hospital.
James was born on February 26, 1972 in El Paso, TX, to James Koopman and Jennie (Mesman) Kornas.
Surviving James are his father, James Koopman of Lakeville; mother, Jennie Kornas of Gary; sister, Lisa (Josh) Rice of Tyner; brother, Joe Koopman of Gary; stepdaughter, Kayla (Buck) Sarver of Union Mills; girlfriend, Kim Garay of La Porte; as well as many nieces and nephews.
James was a mechanic for 30 years at Sauers and many other dealerships. He was a member the American Legion. James enjoyed golfing, kayaking, shooting darts, and playing pool.
He was a generous man, willing to help those he loved. James' generosity continued in death as his organs have been donated to help those in need.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
