Gertrude H. Bunton, 95, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022.
Gertrude was born August 31, 1926, in Peshtigo, Wisconsin to the late Alexander and Martha (Sheklinski) Konieczny.
On August 31, 1963, Gertrude married Willard Bunton who preceded her in death.
Gertrude retired from American Rubber where she worked as a machine operator for 23 years. She also worked for F.W. Woolworth for seven years and F.W. McClellans for six years. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church, St Peter Lady of the Snow Circle, and a former member of Friendly Neighbor Extension Club.
Gertrude is survived by four daughters, Christine (Ron) Landberg of Phoenix, Arizona, Nancy (David) Wilber of La Porte, Indiana, Josie Horn of Tampa, Florida, and Paula Waak of La Porte, Indiana; four granddaughters, Chera (Mike) Maglio of Tampa, Florida, Keri (Jeff) Hay of La Porte, Indiana, Holly Hunt of South Bend, Indiana, and Angela (Khalid) Ghantous of Chicago, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren, Garett, Dillion, Walid, Emma, Liberty, Dixie and Wyatt; great-great-grandchildren, Gracie, Rowdy, and Kimber; one sister; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard; one grandson; one great-grandson; seven brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home prior to the Mass.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church, 1104 Monroe Street, La Porte, Indiana. Reverend Nate Edquist will officiate. Burial will follow in Patton Cemetery.
