Doris L Crail, 94, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Northwest Health-La Porte.

 

She was born February 2, 1928 in Palestine, Illinois, the daughter of Matthew McDaniel and Mable (McCain) McDaniel.

 

Doris, who lived at the same address in Kingsford Heights since 1948, worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years, first as a clerk, then as the Postmaster. On February 1, 1947, in Robinson, IL, she married Donald G Crail, who preceded her in death January 10, 2010.  Doris was past president of the American Legion Post 434 Auxiliary in Kingsford Heights, a member of the National Association of Postmasters, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and past director of Hoosier Boys Club of Kingsford Heights for 10 years. Her hobbies included cooking and reading and she loved puzzles.

 

She is survived by her three sons, Larry A (Deborah) Crail of Kingsford Heights, IN, Gregory W (Katherine) Crail of La Porte, IN, Robert M (Deidre) Crail of Rolling Prairie, In; daughter, Donna J (Brent) Campos of Rolling Prairie, IN; brother, John McDaniel of Walkerton, IN; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harold McDaniel and sister, Maxine Spence.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends from 11:00 -1:00 CST on Friday, August 5, 2022. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with interment to follow at the Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, Indiana.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Valparaiso, IN., the Kingsford-Union VFD, or the Cancer Foundation of your choice.
