Judith “Judy” Cichon, 80, of La Porte, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 with loved ones by her side.

 

She was born on October 29,1941, in La Porte, Indiana, to John and Lillian (Dunham) Grimes.

On May 13, 1961, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte, Indiana, she married David “Dave” Cichon, who survives.

 

Judy will be dearly missed by her children, Mark Cichon of Madison, Wisconsin and Diane (Brett) Searle of La Porte. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Andrew Searle, Alison (Nick) Foster, and Betsy Searle.

 

Preceding in death were her parents; and one brother, Dale Grimes.

A lifelong resident of LaPorte, Judy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she helped serve at their food pantry. She worked for the La Porte Community School Corporation, employed as a teacher assistant at Riley Elementary School retiring in 1995. Judy enjoyed many international vacation trips and wintering in Florida with her husband and went on fun adventures with her girlfriends. She would not miss attending all of her grandchildren’s tennis games, award ceremonies, and plays. Judy also enjoyed all the family get togethers, reading, making handmade stamped greeting cards, and sitting around the campfire with family and friends.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 Bach Street, La Porte, Indiana. Visitation and viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2022 and from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100. Burial will follow the service at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
