Debra Lynn Halfacre, 60, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL. surrounded by her family.

 

She was born May 8, 1962, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Carl and Shirley (Means) Childers.

 

Debra was a homemaker who deeply cared for her family. She was incredibly sweet and kindhearted. She cherished every moment she spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. 

 

On December 6, 1986, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Daniel “Dan” Lloyd Halfacre Sr., who survives.

 

Also surviving are her mother, Shirley Childers of Portage; four children, Amber (Brad) Benninghoff of Rolling Prairie, Daniel Lloyd Halfacre Jr. of Michigan City, Heather (Phil) Halfacre of Rolling Prairie, and Hayley (Kevin) Halfacre of Michigan City; two siblings, Diane Kamont of Michigan City and Jeffrey (Charissa) Childers of Portage; ten grandchildren, Colin, Kylee, Caleb, Peighton, Conner, Miles, Phoenix, Kayli, Rhylen, and Kinley; one grandson on the way, Ivin; and mother-in-law, Joyce Halfacre of Michigan City.

 

Preceding in death were her father, Carl Childers Sr.; and one brother, Carol J. Childers Jr.

 

A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2022 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100 with Pastor Terry McKinney officiating.  Visitation and viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City.
