Nancy M. Draves, 72, of Kingsford Heights, Indiana, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022 at her home. 

 

She was born June 16, 1949 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph Schoff and Mary Annette (Ellis) Schoff. 

 

On July 2, 1965, in Kingsford Heights, she married her high school sweetheart, David A. Draves, who survives. 

 

She is also survived by her son, Richard A. Draves of La Porte, IN; daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Jones of Hamlet, IN; two brothers, Charles Schoff of Union Mills, IN, Steven Schoff of Union Mills, IN; three granddaughters, Charlotte, Rileigh and Natalie Jones; her miniature Australian Shepherd, Quigley and several nieces and nephews. 

 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Pamela Draves and Diane Stout and brother, Michael Schoff. 

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Nancy attended Union Township High School.  Before retirement she was a secretary at Westville Farm Fertilizer. Nancy was a member of the Kingsford Heights American Legion Post 434 Auxiliary and a member of the PRCU. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. Nancy loved garden flowers, especially Hydrangeas. She was a kind and caring woman who wasn't afraid to dish it out.  She was lovingly known as "Honey" by her granddaughters, who were the love of her life.  

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m., with Pastor Toby Guill, Westville United Methodist Church, officiating.   Cremation will take place. 

 

Nancy loved flowers, especially hanging baskets, as well as wind chimes and cardinals or you may make memorial donations in her honor to The Indiana School for the Deaf, 1200 E. 42nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46205 or St Jude Children's Hospital @www.stjude.org.
