Nelson Blengeri, 79, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Citadel of Glenview in Glenview, IL.

 

Nelson was born on September 13, 1942 in Lima, Peru, to Adolfo Blengeri Cavalie and Laura La Rosa Blengeri.

 

Surviving Nelson are his children, Nelson (Sara) A. Blengeri of Lake Forest, IL and Pilar (Jeff) Prus of Chiang Mai, Thailand; 4 grandchildren, Max and Nico Blengeri of Lake Forest, IL, Caleb Prus of Rochester, NY, and Dillon Prus of Worcester, MA; ex-wife, Jane Schafer of Elk Grove Village, IL; siblings, Augusto (Norma Chong Choy) Blengeri La Rosa, and Marta Blengeri La Rosa, all of Lima, Peru; nieces, Tatiana Blengeri Chong Casada (José Echegaray Nakamura) and Laura Godoy Blengeri, all of Lima Peru; nephew, Cesar Blengeri Chong Casada (Inés Trellas De Belaunde) of Lima, Peru; and great nephews, Lucas Echegaray Blengeri, Ignacio Echegaray Blengeri, Fabrizzio Blengeri Trellas, and Lorenzo Blengeri Trellas, all of Lima, Peru.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo Blengeri Cavalie and Laura La Rosa Blengeri. 

 

Nelson proudly served in the United States Army.

 

He was a steelworker for many years at Bethlehem Steel in the Hot Strip Mill.  Nelson was an avid artist who enjoyed sharing his work and talents with others.  He also enjoyed woodworking and making knives.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A Private Family Memorial Service will take place at a later date.
