Laura Louise King

Laura Louise King, 82, of La Porte, Indiana passed away comfortably surrounded by all her children and the love of four generations surrounding her on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

 

Laura was born August 9, 1939, in Paxton, Indiana to the late Robert and Flo (Dugan) Vester.

 

On June 15, 1957, Laura married the love of her life, Duane King who preceded her in death on December 22, 2011.

 

Laura was an Interior Decorator for 35 years and retired from Duggers Marathon. She was a member of Pine Lake Assembly, Ladies Majors Bowling League, and La Porte Ladies Bowling Hall of Fame. She also coached girls and women’s softball. She loved margaritas, the Cubs, and fishing. She was always there for all family events.

 

Laura is survived by a daughter, Annette (Stephen) Loeffler of La Porte, Indiana; three sons, Steven (Loretta) King of La Porte, Indiana, Michael (Doreen) King of La Porte, Indiana, and Richard (Lisa) King of La Porte, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 9 ½ great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Smeltzer of La Porte, Indiana, and Betty (Bruce) Burkhardt of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane, sisters, Mary Jo Lowdenslager, and Helen Brown, and a brother-in-law, Ed Lowdenslager.

 

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2022, in the funeral home, where family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor Nate Loucks will officiate. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery.
