Cleda M. Hamilton, 84, of Mill Creek, Indiana, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at her home in Mill Creek, IN., surrounded by her family.

 

She was born April 9, 1938, in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Willard Brown and Dorothy (McGarity) Brown.

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Cleda was a graduate of Mill Creek High School. She went to work as a telephone operator for GTE, then was the relief postmaster for the Mill Creek post office until her retirement in 2010. On May 7, 1983, in La Porte, Cleda married Robert Hamilton, who preceded her in death on February 28, 2010.  Cleda was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery and cooking. She loved traveling and going on vacation with her husband to Florida to visit relatives.  Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she attended their games and activities faithfully.

 

She is survived by her four sons, Williard Brown of Mill Creek, IN, Roger (Shirley) Hamilton of Walkerton, IN, Rodney Hamilton of Mill Creek, IN, Ralf (Cyndi) Hamilton of Bristol, IN; four daughters, Trudy (Kip) Lamb of La Porte, IN, Roxanne (Dave-Deceased) Jermolowicz of Tampa, FL, Robin (Albert-deceased) Saboski of Columbia City, IN, Roberta (Rick) Davis of La Porte, IN; 18 grandchildren;34 great grandchildren, including Mason Brown and Kinsley Wolff; and three great-grandchildren.

 

Along with her husband Robert, Cleda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Edith Hamilton.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon David Parrish, Mill Creek Baptist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek.
