.

Matt was a 1992 graduate of New Prairie High School and Indiana University, holding a degree in criminal justice and a minor in business.

Matt served in the United States Marine Corps as a proud Recon Marine.  He also served in the Indiana Air National Guard.  His college education was disrupted after 9/11 and he was deployed to the middle east several times.  After three years he returned to IU to finish his education and marry his love, Christiana, who he affectionately called “Sweets”.

From a young age, Matt was a dedicated and responsible hard worker.  He held several jobs and was most proud of his time spent as an investigator at the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

Matt was confirmed and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at First United Methodist Church of La Porte.

Matt loved the outdoors and adventure, canoeing, camping, and skiing from a young age.  As an adult Matt hiked to the top of the tallest mountains in the lower 48, with his wife, friends, and family along on a few. He ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.

Matt’s family was his greatest love.  He was the first to be there in time of need.  Always the rock to lean on.  The bond he shared with his son will not be broken by death.

A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Internment will be at the National Military Cemetery in Indianapolis.
