David  Layman, 68, of Michigan City, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

   

David was born in Michigan City, IN, on January 20, 1954 to Edward  Joseph and Aleen Alma (Westphal) Layman. 

 

On November 19, 1977, in La Porte, he married Joanne Schroeder who survives.  Also surviving are his children, son, Matthew (Melissa) Layman of South Bend, IN and daughter, Angela (Kory) Thomas of Modoc, IN; three grandchildren, Wiley and Eleanor Thomas of Modoc, IN, and Sophia Layman of South Bend; 4 siblings, brother, Edward (Sue) Layman of Michigan City, sister, Roszella (Dennis) Tylinski of Michigan City, sister, Carol (Jim) Kester of Sarasota, FL, and half-brother, Irvin (Pam) Layman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

David was a Union Carpenter for many years  He was a member of Local 1485.  David enjoyed fishing, hunting, completing puzzles, mowing grass, playing cards with friends and loved traveling with his family and friends.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at  12:00 p.m. (CT) on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Father Joseph Pawlowski officiating.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Cremation will take place at a later time.
