James "Jim" Franklin Trinkle Sr.

James “Jim” Franklin Trinkle Sr., 65, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 4 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022 in his home.

 

He was born April 23, 1957, in East Chicago, Indiana. Jim retired after 25 years from I/N TEK, New Carlisle. He was a family man who loved his family deeply, especially his children and grandchildren. Jim enjoyed the companionship of his three dogs, in which he had up until the time of their passings. He had a big heart and was always willing to help and take care of people. Jim taught his family how to be strong. He will be deeply missed.

 

On July 27, 1979, in Crown Point, Indiana, he married Laura “Lori” (Rhodes) Trinkle, who survives.

 

Also surviving are his four children, James (Nicole) Trinkle Jr. of Valparaiso, Shannon (Adam) Ohlenkamp of Schererville, Lisa (Nathan) Badger of La Porte, and Robert (Kari) Trinkle of Brownsburg; one sister, Elizabeth (Theodore) Paganis of Saint John; and nine grandchildren, Austin Trinkle, Alaina and Amelia Ohlenkamp, Ethan, Hudson, and Luke Badger, and Liam, Mason, and Olivia Trinkle.

 

Preceding in death were his parents, Frank and Genevieve (Kolbus) Trinkle; one sister, Carol Trinkle; and father-in-law, Robert Rhodes.

 

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2022 and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
