Cathy Lynn Koehn, 61, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Sunday April 17, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Cathy was born May 1, 1960 in Valparaiso, Indiana, the daughter of Robert Cable and Linda (Shoupe) Cable.
A lifelong resident of the area, Cathy graduated from La Porte High School. Along with being a homemaker, she worked as the maintenance coordinator for West Rock in Mishawaka. On February 22, 1986, in La Porte, she married Thomas Koehn and together they raised two daughters. Cathy was a vibrant woman who lived life to the fullest. She was very artistic and creative, which presented itself in her ceramics, her woodworking and her extensive sewing projects. Her adventurous side led her to motorcycling with her husband on her custom chromed out, cobalt blue Harley Davidson, where they belonged to a local HOG club and attended events and rallies around Indiana. Cathy loved all types of music, with her most recent favorite being Elvis. Her passion, though, was her family and she was fiercely protective of them, working hard to build the wonderful life she had.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Thomas; her two daughters, Katlyn (Brett) Slater of Mill Creek, Kelsey (Andy) Giesler of La Porte; three brothers, Woody Cable of La Porte, Chip (Angel) Cable of La Porte, Curt (Christine) Cable of LaPorte, IN; sister, Wendy (Jody) Rudd of Pendleton, IN; her five adorable grandchildren, Leigha, Hunter, Autumn, Hudson and Wyatt; her dog Max and a large extended family of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and a trove of adopted pups that she brought home over the years.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. Cremation will take place. A Celebration of Cathy's Life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday April 22, 2022 at Salem Chapel, 2802 E State Road 4, La Porte, IN 46350.
Because of her great love of dogs, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cathy's honor to the La Porte County Small Animal Shelter, 2855 IN-2, La Porte, IN 46350.
