Harold L. Ross, 87 years old, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Signature Healthcare, Bremen, IN.  Harold was born on March 3, 1935 in St. Joseph County to the late Millard and Vera (Winnel) Ross.  He has lived in our local area most of his life.  On September 26, 1959 in Michigan City, Harold and Shirley M. Peckat were united in marriage.

 

Along with his loving wife, Shirley, of 62 years, Harold is survived by their two children, Kristine (Michael) Smith of Williamsburg, VA and Donald (Christina) Ross of Michigan City; six grandchildren, Eric (Rebecca) Ross, Michelle (Matt Penn) Ross, Nicole Ross, Donald Ross II, Courtney Smith and Kailey Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Josephine Ross, Audrey Ross, and Xavier Penn.  Harold is also survived by his sister, Judy Hopper of Elkhart.  He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Grace Ross; three sisters, Mardell Gardner, Twilla Gregg, and Joan Walsh; and one brother, Charles Ross.

 

Harold retired after 19 years as an industrial engineer with Dwyer Products in Michigan City. He also worked for two years at AM General and three years at the Potato Creek State Park Store.  Harold was a member of Pine Creek Church of the Brethren. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville.  Pastor Nathan Rosentrater will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Morris Cemetery, Walkerton.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
