Walter W. Wiltfong

Walter W. Wiltfong, March 6, 1961-March 29, 2022, 61, of North Liberty, Indiana, passed away suddenly, Tuesday March 29, 2022 at his home.


He was born in La Porte, IN, the son of William W. and Evelyn (Schroeder) Wiltfong.


A lifelong resident of the NW Indiana area, Walter received his Associate Degree in Diesel Mechanics from Ivy Tech. On May 11, 1991, in South Bend, he married the girl of his dreams, Angela Manley.  Walter was a farmer for most of his life, creating the 3W cattle company with his father and raising Angus beef cattle. After cattle, he continued baling hay, teaching his daughters the tricks of the trade.  He also was a school bus driver for South Bend schools from 1998 - 2018. Walter helped build the Monkey exhibition for the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend and was their Santa Claus every year. He and Angela volunteered to drive the buses to take kids to the Special Olympics for St. Joe County. Walter was quite a jokester and had many friends who he enjoyed spending time with. He loved fishing, watching old westerns and listening to classic country music. He became an ordained internet preacher so he could perform wedding ceremonies for his family. Most importantly, he adored his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.


Walter is survived by his wife, Angela; his son, Benjamin Manley of South Bend; 3 daughters, Mariah Manley of N. Liberty, Evelyn (Jason) Craig of Niles, MI, Wynona W, Wiltfong of N. Liberty; brothers, William W. (Linda) Wiltfong of Port Charlotte, FL, Wendell W. Wiltfong of La Porte; sister Stella (John) Naegele of La Porte; grandchildren, Wyatt Davis, Wade Craig, Elsie Craig; special friend Lenny Jobe and "adopted son" Jacob Jobe. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.


Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Walter's life to follow at 5:30.  Cremation will take place.


The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to St Judes Children's Hospital,, or American Diabetes Asso, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116.
