James "Jim" E. Morrical (Services Update)

James “Jim” E. Morrical, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

 

He was born to Arthur “Bert” W. and Elizabeth “Betty” V. (Schmidt) Morrical on August 1, 1946, in Chicago, Ill. He married Norma J. (Rector) on January 27, 1968, at Beck Chapel on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.

 

Jim is survived by his wife, Norma of 54 years, two daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” A. Morrical (Roberto Del Vecchio) of Abington, Mass., and Julie M. Kovalcik of Wauconda, Ill; granddaughter Madeline C. Kovalcik; two brothers, Douglas H. (Tammy) Morrical and Paul A. Morrical; nephews Bradley D. (Ekaterina) Morrical and Phillip C. Morrical; and niece Karie A. (Brad) Kline.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Brian A. Morrical.

 

He graduated from LaPorte High School and Indiana University, where he belonged to Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He resided in LaPorte, Indiana, for most of his life with his wife and children.

 

Jim was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed belonging to many golf and social clubs. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church (North Myrtle Beach, SC); St. Peter’s Catholic Church (LaPorte, Ind.); was a Member of the Board of Hamilton Grove Retirement Community (New Carlisle, Ind.); member of the Lion’s Club (LaPorte); past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus (LaPorte); member of the Indiana Lumber and Builders Supply Association; and member of golf clubs in LaPorte and North Myrtle Beach. Jim was the owner and operator of Wilson Lumber Inc. in LaPorte for many years.

 

Friends may call at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach (www.msfh.net) on Sunday, March 20, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea on Monday, March 21 at 11:00 am. The family kindly requests that masks be worn while attending.

 

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. C.S.T. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Indiana. Deacon Chris Hawkins will officiate.
