Walter "Walt" J. Krzyzak

Walter “Walt” J. Krzyzak, 73, of La Porte, passed away unexpectedly at 1:52 a.m., Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Northwest Health, La Porte.

 

He was born April 23, 1948, in La Porte, Indiana, to Alex and Mary (Zoladz) Krzyzak.

 

Walt was a Shop Foreman for Plastic Masters Inc., New Buffalo, MI. He enjoyed many things in life like fishing, hunting, mushrooming, kayaking, and cooking. Walt is remembered by his family as goofy and loving devoted family man. He made sure to attend every activity and function that he could for his grandchildren at school.

 

On March 28, 1970, in La Porte, Indiana, he married Bonnie Lee (McCleery) Krzyzak, who survives.

 

Also surviving are his children, Candace (James) Hisick and James (Jill) Krzyzak both of La Porte and Brian (Robin) Krzyzak of Momence, IL; four siblings, Stella Shuler of Hobart, John Krzyzak of La Porte, Regina (Dave) Wilkerson of Walls, Mississippi, and Ceil Trojanowski of Rolling Prairie; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Caitlin) and Dylan (Katey), and Maggie Hisick, Alex and Devin Krzyzak, Allee and Wyatt Krzyzak; two great grandchildren, Maya and Haven Hisick; and beloved dog “Barrel Lab,” Shadow.

 

Preceding in death were his parents; one brother, Alex Krzyzak; and infant daughter, Sherry Krzyzak.

 

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Pastor James Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

 

The family request that all attendees wear Bears, Cubs or their favorite sports team attire in Walt’s memory. “Just No Packers!” – W. J. Krzyzak

 

Following the service, there will be a dinner hosted at Candace Hisick’s home, 7615 N. County Road 300 E. La Porte, Indiana 46350.
