John L. Martz, 76, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:00 am in his home.

 

Private services will be conducted. Private burial will take place in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.  The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.    

 

He was born July 25, 1945 in Gary, IN to the late Carl and Margaret (Slovenka) Martz. On December 29, 1984 in Michigan City, IN he married Marlyn Ahrends who survives in Michigan City, IN.

 

Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer (Atsushi) Iizuka of Portage, IN; step-son, David Martz of Michigan City, IN; grandchild, Shizune Iizuka; and a sister, Judie Brown of Valparaiso, IN.

 

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Jerry Martz.

 

John was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in which he was very involved. He was an artist and enjoyed classical music.
