Dixie Lee Slauter

Dixie Lee Slauter, 92, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at Brentwood Assisted Living in LaPorte, IN.

 

She was born February 4, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of James Watt and Cora Mae (Lakin) Watts. Dixie was married to Ernest Slauter on June 21, 1950 and had a long and blessed marriage until he passed away in April of 2007.

 

Dixie was a member of the Dessert Sun Community Church of Tucson, TX. She enjoyed doing arts such as drawing and oil painting. She lived in San Antonio, TX from 2012-2017; but Dixie's true passion was her love for her family and was very close to her kid's, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

 

Dixie is survived by her two sons, Jerry (Barbara) Slauter of La Porte, IN, Jay (Shirley) Slauter of Magnolia, TX; four grandchildren, Shannon (Tim) Gray of San Antonio, TX, Micah (Melinda) Slauter of Union Mills, IN, Tylor Slauter of Golden, CO, Amy (Noah) Schneider of Austin, TX; eight great-grandchildren, Hailey, Hannah, Hayler, Brecken, Meliah, Malachi, Maxine, Memphis.

 

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A Life Celebration is to take place something in the summer. Cremation has taken place.
