LaWanda May Allie

LaWanda May Allie, 96 years, left us Friday morning March 4th to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at Estelle’s House Hospice Care in Ocala, FL. She lived an amazing and impactful life on earth and her presence will be missed by all who knew her.

 

Lawanda was born on July 18th, 1925 to John and Pearl Smith in Rector, Arkansas. She grew up in Missouri where she met her husband Frank Allie who preceded her in death. Frank and LaWanda were married on March 19, 1944 and moved to Frank’s hometown in Michigan City, IN where they would live the majority of their lives. 

 

LaWanda is survived by her loving son James Allie (Louise Allie, Ocala, FL), grandchildren Tim Allie (Judy, Granger, IN), Tammy Michael (Tony, Granger, IN,), Sam Allie (Jennifer, Valparaiso), Darren Allie (Amber, Westville, IN) and Ronda Reedy (Tony, Valparaiso, IN). LaWanda also was loved by many great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. Lindsey Shiver (John), Danielle Utech (Jansen), Hannah, Allie and Mia Michael, Madison and Gage Allie, JJ Allie, Kayla Sulich (Ed), Alex Smith, Eliza and Luna Sulich and Roman Shiver. LaWanda is also survived by many nephews and nieces. She was the last remaining sibling to ten brothers and sisters who also lived long and abundant lives. 

 

LaWanda was an ageless wonder amongst all who knew her. Her boundless energy and zest for life left all who met her, especially the medical community, questioning her true age. She was an avid follower and servant of Christ, Sunday School Teacher, and Cub Scout Leader. LaWanda was the foundation for a legacy of grandchildren who absolutely adored her. 

 

Visitation will be from 9am-11am, Wednesday, March 9th at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
