Gloria May Childress

Gloria May Childress, 90, of La Porte, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.

 

Gloria was born on November 22, 1931 in La Porte, IN, to Edwin L. and Gertrude Marie (Heimlich) Scholz.

 

On October 3, 1954 in La Porte, IN , she married Robert Lee, who preceded her in death.  Surviving Gloria are her children, Scott (Susan) Childress of La Porte, Alan (Julie) Childress of La Porte, Paul (Carol) Childress of Porter, and Carol (Ronald) Hahn of Chicago, IL; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded by her parents; husband; 1 sister; and 1 brother.

 

Gloria was a bank teller for many years at First National Bank.   She enjoyed reading, camping, watching the Hallmark Channel, riding bicycles, and taking long walks with her husband.  Gloria dearly loved her husband and greatly missed him after his passing.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. 

 

Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 111 Kingsbury Ave,. La Porte, IN 46350.
