Dewey Wayne Copeland

Dewey Wayne Copeland, 78, of Hamlet, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in his home.

 

He was born July 29, 1943, in Armorel, Arkansas, to Clarence and Myrtle Mae (Hooten) Copeland.

 

Wayne loved his family, his church, and his church family. He enjoyed stock car racing, fishing, and keeping his yard mowed. He had a bad heart, experiencing two heart attacks in September 2021. His heart was weak and the Lord decided it was time for him to come home to complete the family circle. Wayne, you will be missed and loved always.

 

On December 10, 1978, in Kingsford Heights, Indiana, he married his wife of 43 years, Carolyn “Carol” L. Copeland, who survives.

 

Also surviving are his four children, Linda (David) Hill and Becky (Dennis) Seirls both of Jonesboro, AR, John (Deondra) Harper of Elkhart, IN, and Cathy (Scott) Roberts of La Porte, IN; six grandchildren, Mallory (Dustin) Norwood of Jonesboro, AR, Brittney (Charles) Martens of La Porte, IN, Kara, McKenna, and Kamden Seirls and Macy Hill all of Jonesboro, AR; four great grandchildren, Marleigh and Meleigh Norwood of Jonesboro, AR and Maxwell Eli and Owen James Martens both of La Porte, IN; sister-in-law, Peggy Copeland of Cooter, AR; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding in death were his parents; seven brothers, Leo, Chesley, Samuel, Parker, Richard, Woodrow and Hershel Copeland; two sisters, Bernice Copeland and Ruth Wells; two unborn siblings; three nephews, Adam and Jimmy Copeland and Jason Prater; and one niece, Patra Gayle.

 

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022 at Community Gospel Baptist Church, 403 S. McGill St., Knox, Indiana with Pastor Leonard Salyers officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, IN and from 12 p.m. until time of service Friday, February 25, 2022 at the church. Burial will follow the service at Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, Indiana.
