Janis R. Stevens, February 17, 1947-February 16, 2022, 74, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Northwest Health La Porte.

 

She was born February 17, 1947 in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of and Homer and Rosemary (Ferguson) Minniear.

 

Janis was a cat lover. Over the years she was always brought strays to take care of. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping, horticulture and agriculture.She was been involved with 4-H for over 30 years. A very talented seamstress she often made clothes for her children and could create anything from a bolt of cloth.With so many passions in her life, she always found time for her family who she loved dearly loved. Janis will be dearly missed.

 

On January 27, 1968, in Lafayette, IN, she married Bruce Stevens who survives. They were married for 54 years.

 

She is also survived by her son, Cristopher Stevens; daughter, Susan (Brent) Ward; brother, Steve Minniear; sister, Patricia Kamp; two grandchildren, Cody (Alexis) Ward, Madeline Ward; two great-grandchildren, Tayllor, Amelia.

 

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Timothy and James Minniear.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. Cremation has taken place with a Life Celebration at a later time.
