Bruno J. Uryga

Bruno J. Uryga, 81, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 6:27 am in Northwest Health-La Porte surrounded by his family.

 

A celebration of life service will be conducted at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

 

He was born November 27, 1940 in Chicago, IL to the late Bruno and Wanda (Gallas) Uryga. On October 19, 1996 in Chesterton, IN he married Kimberly Young who survives in La Porte, IN.

 

Also surviving are a daughter, Lisa (David) Cox of La Porte, IN; son, Jeffrey (Pamela) Uryga of La Porte, IN; two step-sons, James (Dawnn) Bonnema, Jr. of Valparaiso, IN and Jeffrey (Kristi) Bonnema of Dade City, FL; two grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Hindo and Alexander Uryga; two step-grandchildren, Charles (Abby) Shultz Jr and James (Abby) Bonnema, III; sister, Rosemary (Robert) Eaton of San Benito, TX; three brothers, Robert (Leona) Uryga of Michiana Shores, IN, John (Rachel) Uryga of La Porte, IN and Joseph (Joyce) Uryga of Plymouth, IN; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet, Shotzi.

 

He was also preceded in death by his sister Wanda Uryga; and brother, Richard Uryga.

 

Bruno was widely known as the longtime owner of Bruno's Bar in Beverly Shores, IN. He retired as a master plumber with the Plumbers Local 210 and worked as a La Porte County Building Inspector. Bruno was a proud Vietnam Era U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was an avid auto racing fan, collected classic Ford vehicles and enjoyed antiquing.
