Rose Ann Harlow

Rose Ann Harlow, May 11, 1927-January 24, 2022, 94, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at Northwest Health-La Porte.

 

She was born May 11, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of George Obren and Elsie (Savich) Obren- Kovachevich.

 

On October 5, 1948, in Wolcott, IN, Rose Obren married Wilson "Bill" Jairus Harlow, who preceded her in death February 25, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Anna Obren, Mitzi Goethals, Violet Millage, Joann Kovachevich, Donna Bicker; brothers, Nicholas, George, Steve and Peter Obren and son David Harlow.

 

Rose is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Marcia Harlow of La Porte, IN; sons, Jerry (Kristine) Harlow of Union Mills, IN, Mike Harlow of New Carlisle, IN,  Kirk (Wavey) Harlow of  Encinitas CA; special daughter, Stoni Harlow; brothers, Andy (Arlene) Obren of Goshen, IN,  Fred Obren of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Kerry (Melissa) Harlow, Jason (Lisa) Harlow, Josh (Lindsey) Harlow, Jason (Sarah) Ott, Mikiko Rose Harlow, Eric Harlow, Melanie Adams, David (Kelly) Harlow, Jr., Rachel Harlow, Angela Harlow, Daniel (Heather) Harlow, John Harlow; 25 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

A local resident since 1960, Rose was a member of the Tracy United Methodist Church. She worked as a sweeper at Modines, retiring in 1989 after more than 20 years. Rose was a 60 year member of the Kingsford Heights American Legion Post 434 Auxiliary and served on their board as president, secretary and membership chair. She was also a member of the La Porte County LaFemmes Cabane 276 where she was secretary for over 20 years as well as being a member of the VFW Post 1130 Auxiliary in La Porte.  In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - noon central time on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon at the funeral home on Tuesday, with Pastor Kay Bond, officiating.  Interment will follow at the Tracy Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn to these events.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Haverstock Funeral Home, La Porte.
