Lawrence "Larry" E. Pierce

Lawrence "Larry" E. Pierce, December 20, 1941-January 20, 2022,  80, of Seymour, TN, formerly of Rolling Prairie, IN passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at his home.

 

He was born December 20, 1941 in Valparaiso, Indiana, the son of Clyde and Helen (Schneckenburger) Pierce, who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers Ronald and Roger, his sister, Sharon and his grandson, Cody Strauch.

 

On September 23, 1961 in La Porte, Larry married Brenda J. Lamb, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters Angela (Nancy Kachmarik) Pierce of Elyria, OH, Lori E. Towle of Flint, Michigan and Gina (Ron) Strauch of Rolling Prairie, IN; grandchildren, Thomas Benson of Indianapolis, Barry Towle of Knox IN and Kailin Strauch of Rolling Prairie; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

Larry lived in the area for 60 years before moving to Tennessee 20 years ago. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 364, driving a Semi for 35 years for Preston Trucking in South Bend. He also worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation for 5 years before retiring. Larry was a member of the First Christian Church of Rolling Prairie for 40 years, where he served as a Deacon, then transferred to Seymour Heights Christian Church for the past 20 years.  Larry enjoyed gardening, growing flowers of all kinds.  He was an avid classic car buff, owning a 1974 Plymouth Valiant, which he drove to all local car shows.  Larry was known for his sense of humor and his love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Larry's Life will be on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Ransom Ebersole, officiating. Interment will follow at Heckman Cemetery.
