David Paul MacCartney

David Paul MacCartney, devoted husband, grandfather, and great grandfather 90, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Friday, January 7, 2022.

 

David was born November 6, 1931, in Hammond, Indiana to the late Donald and Bertha (Frappier) MacCartney.

 

On June 23, 1956, he married his true love, Alice Gussman.

 

David married Alice Gussman who survives, with two daughters, Janet (Mark) Woodke of Lowell, Indiana and Kelly (Jeff) Koontz of Union Mills, Indiana; grandchildren, Joslyn (Adam) Stemple, David (Ashley) Hipp, Ryan Koontz, Kyle (Lexi) Koontz, Jessica Koontz, Justin Piper; great-grandchildren, Madison, Hunter, & Colton Koontz, Elizabeth, David James Hipp, Noah Stemple, Ava Koontz; a sister, Jackie Harmon; brothers, Robert & Donald (Carolyn) MacCartney; and many beloved nieces and nephews; and special neighbors Donny and Heather Pozil and their daughters Nora and Evelyn.  A sister, Barbara White and brother-in-law, Al White preceded him in death. 

 

David worked in Quality Control for 38 years with the Youngstown Steel Mill. He proudly served in the United States Navy, a very active member of The First United Methodist Church in La Porte having taught Sunday school, and bible study, and served on several committees. He was an avid woodworker, bowler, fisherman, golfer, and Chicago sports fan, especially the Black Hawks. 

 

Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.  Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Bob Vale will officiate.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
