Anthony T. Yvinskas

Anthony T. Yvinskas, March 1, 1935-January 5, 2022, 86, of Walkerton, Indiana, passed away Wednesday January 5, 2022 at his home.

 

He was born March 1, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Theophilus Yvinskas and Anele (Vilimas) Yvinskas.

 

Anthony moved to Fish Lake 30 years ago from Chicago, where he was a Truck driver for North Chicago laundry.  He graduated from St. Rita's in Chicago and on June 26, 1954, he married the love of his life, Clarissa Jurgaitis at Holy Cross Catholic in Chicago. Anthony was a former member, usher and committeeman at Immaculate Conception Parrish, a cub scout leader for troop 3464 and he also worked at Kinney shoes, all in Chicago.

 

Locally, he was a member of the Men's Club and an usher at St Anthony's Catholic Church, Fish Lake, a member of the Knight's of Columbus, St John Canty, a member of the Fish Lake property owners and Conservation Club.  Anthony was known as Tony Pepperoni at his booth at the Shipshewana Flea market, where he sold sausages and other things. He was a huge Cub's fan and enjoyed listening to audiotapes.

 

He is survived by his wife, Clarissa; son, Anthony M. Yvinskas of Fish Lake, IN; four daughters, Katherine (Harry) Zerler of NJ, Deborah (Mark) Lynch of New Lenox, IL, Elizabeth (Steve) Williams of Chicago, IL, Mary and her late husband Greg Wyrick of Renselear, IN; fifteen grandchildren, Jenny, Nicki, Steve, Jr., Shannon, Kari, Greg, Amy, Kevin, Kristina, Stacy, Patrick, Nicholas, Marissa, Allen, Jessica; 15 great-grandchildren and his loyal companion, Angel, his dog.

 

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Anthony's Catholic Church, Walkerton, at 10:00 a.m. central time.  Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Casimir Cemetery Chapel, Chicago.
