Douglas M. Kelley, February 19, 1949-December 31, 2021, 72, of Mill Creek, Indiana, passed away Friday December 31, 2021 at Fountain View Terrace in La Porte, IN.

 

He was born February 19, 1949 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Clyde A. Kelley and Katherine Ruth (DePoy) Kelley.

 

A lifelong resident of La Porte, Douglas was a truck driver and worked in factory maintenance for Kingsbury Elevator.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned the expert rifle designation. He was a member of the Hamon Gray American Legion Post 83, La Porte, and was involved with his family in 4-H. Douglas enjoyed fishing, going to tractor shows, watching old westerns on TV and a particular passion of his was driving horses.

 

He is survived by his wife, Karyl of Mill Creek; son, Mike D. Kelley of Mill Creek; daughter, Katrina L(Jeff) Bohlin; brother, Lonn E. (Diane) Kelley of Hudson Lake, IN; sister, Rebecca (Dick) Hill of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica and Austin Bohlin and Joshua Kelley.

 

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother and sister, Ronald and Barbara Kelley.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. The family has selected cremation, with final inurnment of cremated remains, along with military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in IL.
