Mickey "Mick" Lee Whisman

Mickey “Mick” Lee Whisman, 70, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 10:57 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor, New Carlisle.

 

He was born March 20, 1951, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Ralph and Jean (Clark) Whisman.

 

Mick was a current union member of Bricklayers & Tile Setters Local 4 Chapter 6, Merrillville. Through the union, he taught for their apprenticeship classes. Mick had a chance to travel the world, repairing blast furnaces, experiencing some interesting activities he told stories about to his family. He shared his time with his beloved cat “his baby girl”, Peaches.

 

Surviving are his sister, Toni (Gene) Baldwin of La Porte; two grandchildren, Alexander and Audrey Whisman of Chesterton; one niece, Penny (Rob) Torgesen of La Porte; one nephew, Terry Baldwin of Michigan City; four great nieces, Stephanie (Kyle) Gottschalk, Samantha Cook, Lily Baldwin, and Madison Baldwin; one great nephew, Zeek Torgesen; and one great-great nephew, Sylas Gottschalk.

 

Preceding in death were his parents; and one son, Mickey Christopher Whisman.

 

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, January 10, 2022 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place. A private burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City.
